Managing
new digital risks
The context: new risks
Today’s companies have few essential functions that are independent
from their IT systems: every major breach can become a business
crisis, often serious for the image of the company and its operational
performance.
Digital technology is evidently a source of risk. Dematerialisation has
indeed reduced some of the risks, but digital technology has created
new ones. These digital risks are diverse (piracy, spying, loss of essential
services, sabotage, bugs…), and they appear, interestingly, in a
predominantly Anglo-Saxon based information-security environment,
whether it be programs, intrusion detection tools, etc.
Every major breach can become a business crisis,
often serious for the image of the company and its
operational performance!
