Working closely with the different business
functions
As digital technology is not only about technological advances, but also
about changes in working and management methods, the use of IT in
organisations is a good opportunity to implement new practices. The
IT department must work together with the other sectors on digital
technology: the Marketing, Sales, Communications, Human Resources
and Legal departments are all business partners of the IT department in
the digital transformation. Collaboration, networking and the forming
of partnerships must take place between them.
Learning to work differently across business functions requires
experimenting (Cloud Computing, Big Data, mobility), discussing
projects regularly, accepting to learn from younger generations, and
working flexibly, in open plan spaces and in project environments,
whilst balancing both small, flexible projects and big, structured
projects.
