Dialogue and flexibility
One of the characteristics of a digital project is its capability of adapting
to a shrinking Time toMarket. The focus is not only on the development
process, which opposes the traditional V-model to agile programming,
but also, and mainly, on arriving at a state where the company will be
able to “
change direction rapidly according to the evolution of market
conditions

.
Achieving flexibility requires taking on iterative and short-cycle
incremental projects (they need to arrive faster on the market and
they also become obsolete faster). The focus here is on incremental
agility that incorporates the notions of evolution, at the very core of
company transformation.
The business agility of an organisation requires its IT department to
be just as agile. In particular, this means more and more
open space project management, to foster reactivity and
proximity between IT and other business functions.
All the same, it is important to keep in mind the difficulties
of working in an open space layout in distributed
organisations. As such, the organisation of digital technology in a
global and distributed environment will be a major question for the IS
function.
