The Stakes and Challenges

This context explains the need to identify the strengths and weaknesses
of large organisations with respect to their competitors. In the run-up
to 2020, the ability to renew the business model will be a determining
factor for the growth and profitability of large companies.
The stakes: capitalising on data and favouring
customer experience
Data is tomorrow’s black gold. However, according to the consultancy
firm Gartner, 85% of the biggest organisations from the Fortune 500
ranking won’t be able to draw a true competitive advantage from Big
Data before 2015.
The majority will still be at an experimental stage, whereas those that
manage to capitalise on Big Data will gain a competitive advantage of
25%
or more over their rivals. Indeed, the development
of new products and services, favoured by intelligent
exploitation of data, creates real business opportunities,
and causes, to varying degrees, business models to evolve.
In a context where the risk of disintermediation is high,
healthy client relations, mass personalisation, and co-conception with
consumers will be fundamental to the success of companies in 2020.
